Little Italy Christmas Tree Lighting (2011)

On Friday, December 2nd, RUF took a trip to Little Italy in Baltimore to participate in their Christmas tree lighting. The tree was erected at the corner of High & Stiles Streets and everyone in attendance was able to help adorn the tree with ornaments. Besides the tree decorating, festivities also included free holiday treats (pizzelles, roasted chestnuts, hot apple cider), am Italian speaking Santa and carols from a local chorale society. After the lighting, we went to Isabella's, a local pizza place (and Melynn's favorite), and enjoyed some great brick oven pizza.

I had lots of fun that night. It was great to see friends one last time before the holidays and have the opportunity to be involved with the local Baltimore community. I also greatly appreciated the prayer that was given before the tree was lit. That small gesture lent an intimacy to the event and reminded me that, at all times, we should be thankful to the God who gives us all things...
